March 2016 President’s Message – Jim Adamovich:
It is time to think about the CTO Annual Fund Raiser set for Saturday, April 2nd that helps us fund all the events we do throughout the year. Pretty soon you will be getting a letter from CTO informing you how you may purchase tickets, help with getting prizes and who to call to help us make this a success for 2016. If you would like to be a volunteer to help work at the fundraiser please call Karen Baehr @920-766-9218.
Every member, even if they don’t shoot at the fundraiser, can help in some way to make it a huge success. Words can’t express how much your help is appreciated.
Let’s all remember, that without the membership helping with the Annual Fund Raiser, the CTO Board of Directors can’t provide the activities that the members wish to participate in. The two must work together in order for the organization to be successful. CTO is only as strong as members who volunteer of their time and talent. Volunteers are needed for set up on Friday, April 1st @ 8AM, (No Fooling), the day of the event, Saturday, April 2nd @7AM and clean up, Sunday, April 3rd @ 9AM. Please feel free to help in any way!
Board Highlights – Judy Paluch:
November:
We went over our committee list of all events to ensure we have someone in charge of each event.
Pat was put in charge of going over our membership list and finding out if those people with an e-mail address would be willing to give us this address so we can send them the newsletter electronically. We understand that if you don’t have a computer this option will not work. Thanks to those members who have made this change.
Pat also is checking on those members that have left their membership expire for over a year to see if they still want to remain members.
He also is checking with those sponsored memberships to ask if they still want to be a member, since the sponsored membership is only for one year. This would require those members to have their membership dues up to date.
December:
January, March, May, July, and September are the months we will be publishing the Newsletter and sending them out. We will be missing the November newsletter since there is not a lot of news during that time.
There will be more information in the electronic newsletter than the newsletter that we send out by mail.
We will be having membership cards printed and laminated. We are starting with the life members first. Yearly memberships we are still working on.
Spring Pheasant Hunt – Jim Adamovich:
This event will be held at J&H Game Farm located at W5810 J & H Road, Shiocton, WI 54170, on Sunday, March 6, 2016 at 8:00 AM. This event has become very popular. We have coordinating birds in the field, dogs and handlers, machine operator, back-up shooters, cleaners and baggers, great food and just a great day to get to know other CTO members and listening to the stories. Each disabled hunter will be allowed two pheasants. If you have a favorite recipe and would like to share bring it along. If you don’t have your own gun, there will be guns available at J & H Game Farm for you to use. John Kempen donated shells for 12 gauge and 20 gauges.
Each hunter is welcome to bring family members, or a friend to assist them, but only the disabled CTO member is allowed to shoot. Food is being made by J & H, which is always delicious. Don’t forget to sign up by March 4th, 2016 if you are going to be part of this hunt. Also if there are any questions please contact Jim Adamovich E-mail: jimrita0208@yahoo.com or 920-722-2090.
Annual Fundraiser:
This year’s CTO, Inc. Annual Sporting Clays Fundraiser sponsored by J&H Game Farm is set for Saturday, April 2nd, 2016. Mark your calendars and please come out with family and friends to take part in making this event a great success again this year. The success of this fundraiser goes a long way in determining what we as an organization can accomplish throughout the year in way of sponsoring over 10 hunting, fishing & other outdoor sporting activities each year as well as our sponsorships and projects that help get more people outdoors. A list of where help is needed will be posted at our Holiday Party on February 27th and in a mailed letter in early March. Those attending the party will be able to pick up raffle tickets to sell and request letters. If you have any questions please contact committee members; Rita Adamovich at: (920) 722-2090 or Karen Baehr at: (920) 766-9218.
Spring Archery Shoot – Brian Hess:
Set your calendars for April 9th 2016 for the CTO sponsored 3D Archery Shoot at R&B Archery. The shoot will start at 10:30 a.m. and go until about 4 p.m. with pizza's for lunch. R&B will have some foam bale targets to practice and they have a bunch of 3D targets of all sorts of different animals from carp to caribou and everything in between, with the different animals ranging from 10 yards to 44 yards.
This is a great opportunity for anyone that wants to try to shoot a crossbow for the first time or if you are a seasoned veteran that just wants to keep on top of his or her game with a little more practice. R&B is a fully accessible with a concrete floor for easy wheeling. CTO will have on hand a couple crossbows, arrows and shooting rests to try out. If interested, please contact Brian Hess at 920-864-7954 (leave a message if no answer) or email abhess@centurytel.net before April 6th 2016. As always, we need volunteers to make this event run smooth and to make it the best ever. R&B is located at: W5251 Pleasant Rd. CTO will once again have the opportunity to attend an indoor football game on May 6th. This has been a very hot and attractive event for many members, but tickets are limited due to seating limitations at the Resch Center. Please contact me early and get your name on the list if you wish to attend. I will confirm if you are one of the first 15 people to get in on the list. If you are not one of the first 15 people, I will put you on a waiting list and see if a spot opens up for additional people. There may be an opportunity for food with the ticket, but that is in the works yet.
